Josh Lucas has answered some of fans’ burning questions when it comes to the upcoming season of Yellowstone.

The 52-year-old actor, who portrays a young John Dutton (also played by Kevin Costner) in flashback scenes in the popular western series, has revealed that he spoke with the show’s creator about the second half of season five, which is gearing up to start production this summer after a series of delays.

“I texted [creator] Taylor Sheridan a couple months ago, and his response was, ‘Absolutely, we’re going to finish this with 10 episodes or so,'” Josh told ET on Thursday.

The first drop of the finale season consisted of eight episodes and concluded in January, with the anticipation of the second part’s premiere in November.

After speaking with Taylor, Josh said he expects to saddle up for one last time to film season five, Part two.

“I said, ‘Hey man, I’ve loved working on the show so much’ and he’s like, ‘Well we’ll be back,’ Josh recalled, as he enthused: “I can’t wait to go do it.”

Regarding the potential for a spin-off showcasing Josh in the role of the Montana rancher, he admitted: “Man, from your lips to God’s ears. I would love it.”

As he explained: “I mean, obviously I love the world Taylor has created. I love seeing the generational aspect, the time aspect, obviously the 1800s on. So yeah, I would be there in a second.”

Josh’s exciting Yellowstone gossip comes on the heels of his fellow Yellowstone star Ian Bohen teasing the final chapter schedule.

The 47-year-old actor revealed: “We will go back, rumor has it in May,” at the Elton John AIDS Foundation Oscar Party.

He added that Yellowstone would likely be shooting “This summer and then we should be on in November, roughly.”

However, Ian did note that the start dates weren’t definite, indefinitely adding: “It could be June.”

He outlined the plan for the series, indicating that they would “shoot six episodes” before airing them, potentially starting in “November maybe December.”

Yellowstone is available to stream on Paramount+.
