Yellowstone Fans Unanimously Rant At Why They ‘Cannot Stand’ Same Character

Yellowstone may not be back on the small screen just yet but that hasn’t stopped viewers sharing their dislike for a character.

Jimmy Hurdstrom (played by Jefferson White) was a fan-favourite ranch hand at Yellowstone for the first four seasons but some of his troubles didn’t occur until the third outing.

This was when Mia (Eden Brolin) was introduced and quickly, the pair fell into a romantic relationship on the Paramount Network Western drama.

However, when Jimmy started taking part in rodeo competitions, he fell off and injured himself and was scared to return back to the ring.

Feeling pressure from Mia to get back on the horse, Jimmy obeyed but then landed himself back in hospital with a more serious injury.

Despite her being the one to convince her other half to take part, Mia doesn’t seem to show any remorse.

So understandable, fans on Reddit have expressed their outrage at Mia’s existence in the show.

Kicking off the thread, one user wrote: “I couldn’t stand her from the moment she showed up. Very weird to get so hooked and become a caretaker for Jimmy so early on.

“And when he had already previously been seriously injured and told not to compete again she goes and holds their relationship over his head and tells him to do it anyway, putting his life and job at risk. Mia is crazy and a no good barrel racer b***h!”

Another agreed: “Oh you are so right! I cannot stand her either!”

While a third commented: “I swear I was so p****d off at that Mia character.

“I was loving the character growth of Jimmy and then the writers decided to create Mia and put an obstacle drama like that which makes so sense at all.”

Responding to fans’ dislike of Mia, White told Cinemablend that it “speaks to how good an actor Eden Brolin is”, to get such a reaction.

Jimmy’s relationship with Mia wasn’t to last though as in season four, he left Montana to do cowboy training in Texas at the iconic 6666 Ranch.

But upon his return, Jimmy was accompanied by his new fiance Emily (Kathryn Kelly) who received a frosty welcome in the bunkhouse before Mia punched her ex-boyfriend.

This led to an all-out fight between Mia and Emily with Jimmy putting a stop to it and telling his former lover that he wanted to start a new life without her.

There is a theory going around that Mia will find her next love interest in Jimmy’s bunkmate Ryan (Ian Bohen) with the actor dropping hints for his character.

He told TV Line: “I’d like to have a love interest and to watch him be a person detached from the ranch and not just an arm of that entity.

“Who is he as a man? How does he talk to people and what does he want and think about as opposed to just sort of a soldier?

“That would be interesting to me, and I hope I get a chance to look into that.”

But it isn’t guaranteed Mia will be back for the new episodes, given that Brolin had only been listed as a recurring actress.

There is still quite a while before fans get to find out for themselves though with Yellowstone season five, part two, scheduled to be released in November 2024.

Yellowstone is available to watch on Paramount Network.
