Yellowstone star Luke Grimes has delighted fans by announcing the release of new music.Grimes, 39, who plays Kayce Dutton on the hit Kevin Costner show, is a rising country music star and plans to release his new EP Pain Pills or Pews on October 20.
He will also be going out on the road to promote the new songs, starting with a sold out show in Columbus, Ohio on November 9.His announcement came shortly after Yellowstone was broadcast with some big changes as it made its network television debut on CBS September 17, in part due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.
The show previously aired on cable channel Paramount. The wider audience watching it on CBS will see an edited version that cuts some of the more extreme content that prompted the original version’s TV-MA rating.
Grimes, who played Christian Grey’s brother Elliot in the Fifty Shades movies, made headlines after performing a 25-minute set during the third day of the Stagecoach Festival in Indio, California on April 30.
Some of the songs the actor-singer played during his set included No Horse To Ride, Lean On and Oh Ohio.
But the Yellowstone star plans to play for longer than 25 minutes during each of his forthcoming shows – four of which have already sold out.
Now, excited fans on Instagram are requesting he make more stops throughout the tour in places from New York to Australia.
Aside from Yellowstone, Grimes’ recent screen work includes 2019’s Into the Ashes and 2023’s Happiness For Beginners, which was released two weeks after the SAG-AFTRA strike began on July 14.
His latest song, Burn, was met with positive reviews from fans after its September 22 release.
One Instagram user said in the song’s promotional post: ‘Congratulations! Job well done!’
‘Again thank you Yellowstone for launching this amazingly talented musician, actor and all around top notch man !!,’ said another user.
One person commented: ‘Saw the live footage of this on YouTube a while back. So glad this is finally out!’
Pain Pills or Pews has eight tracks and does not include musicians other than Grimes.
The unreleased tracks are called Ghost Of Who We Are, Where It’s Blue, and Ain’t Dead Yet – all of which Grimes has not dropped hints about on social media.
The final six episodes of Yellowstone were expected to begin streaming in November 2023, but the strikes delayed production indefinitely.
If Grimes were to add on more tour dates, it’s likely that production for the second half of Yellowstone Season 5 will not begin until 2024.
