Casanova of the Wild West is a 1971 Italian-French-Spanish Western comedy film, starring Bud Spencer and the lovable child actor Renato Cestiè.

The live-action film is directed by Maurizio Lucidi and produced by Jacques Roitfeld. The screenplay was written by Rafael Azcona and Ernesto Gastaldi, and the music was composed by Luis Enríquez Bacalov.

Coburn (Bud Spencer) is a wanderer, the prairie is his home, and here and there he ties a horse in his way. Meanwhile, he’s careful not to run into the muzzle of Sonny Bronston (Jack Palance), who doesn’t tolerate anyone else fighting for his tramp’s life.

In Coburn’s life, an unexpected new opportunity dawns: he must go with Chip (Renato Cestie), an orphaned boy, to Westland so that the child can receive his inheritance there. Coburn and the boy begin a journey full of slaps and dangers.

The film was shot in 1972. In the first half of the decade, the genre was coming to an end so most westerns were shot on Italian territory, and they were less able to allocate a financial bracket for the crew traveling to Spain (Almeria).

This Bud Spencer film is one of those Italian Wild West films that could still be shot there and managed to convince a local film company to cooperate. Renato Cestie, who plays the boy, was visited by Levente Király, with whom he shared many memories, you can also read these memories in his book.
