Sam Elliott Excelled In His Role As Shea Brennan In The Hit Yellowstone Prequel 1883

Sam Elliott blew viewers away with his performance in the Yellowstone prequel series 1883. He played Shea Brennan, a troubled Civil War veteran who experienced a lot of loss in life. Brennan was tasked with leading the group of pioneers across the West to Oregon. James and Margaret Dutton (played by Tim McGraw and Faith Hill) and their two children Elsa and John were among those in the wagon train.

We won’t spoil the series for you. But let’s jut say, things didn’t always go as expected on the journey. Brennan had to step up and show a lot of strength in the midst of challenging and devastating times. Elliott won a Screen Actor’s Guild Award for his portrayal of Brennan.

Sam Believes 1883 May Be The Best Thing He’ll Make This Late In His Career

Now in his 70s, Elliott is aware of the fact that he’s in the later years of his career. Because of this, he isn’t sure he’ll be able to top the performance he turned in while making 1883. Elliott said he recently started rewatching the series. That made him think about the future of his career:

“I know that at this point in my life, there’s not going to be a better one that’s going to come along than this,” he said, according to NBC Chicago. “I feel like on some level, if I quit right now, I will have done what I set out to do when I was 9 years old wanting to be an actor. I’m spoiled.”
