“It all starts with the writing, and Taylor Sheridan is a brilliant writer. I think the western genre speaks clearly to both of us. The classic struggles of man against man, man against nature, and man against himself. It’s all there, in 1883, and I’m honored to be a part of it,” Elliott said in a statement.
Further, Elliott’s character will be a leading role. He’s will guide a group of settlers out west. This is something being done with the most genuine surroundings. Sheridan and the “1883” crew constructed more than 30 real covered wagons.
“The Duttons travel with other families, and pick up other groups along the way. It’s like a moving city. Taylor didn’t want to do it CGI, where you could have built 10 wagon trains and with the world we’re living in today, you could have added 20,” 101 Studios David Glasser said, per Deadline.
Whatever happens in the prequel, fans can’t wait for what’s coming. And Elliott is sure to give a stunning performance, filled with lines from his soothing, comforting voice.
