Amber Heard starred alongside Kevin Costner in the 2014 action thriller 3 Days to Kill. The film was directed by McG. Costner stars as a cancer-stricken spy named Ethan Renner who teams with Heard’s Vivi Delay, a CIA agent, to catch a dangerous terrorist while also trying to fix his fractured relationship with his estranged daughter and ex-wife.

Heard is aware of Costner’s body of work and is a big fan of the actor. In an interview with Joblo, Heard praised Costner for being incredibly sensitive and aware as an actor. The actress also claimed that his knowledge behind the lens as a director in addition to being an actor brings so much more to the film than an average actor. Heard said,

“You know, what I think was great about working with him is just that he’s incredibly sensitive and aware. He’s an easy actor to work with, but what I really liked about him is he’s also a filmmaker. So, he brings something to work that’s not the average. It’s not what the average actor brings. It’s a little bit more and I liked that. He’s on and off-screen a wonderful, wonderful man.”

Heard further stated that his “good old boy” nature served the film and he channeled it to great effect into his character. Unfortunately, the film received negative reviews from critics (28% on Rotten Tomatoes) and grossed only $53 million against a $28 million production budget (via Box Office Mojo).

Kevin Costner Is Thrilled for Horizon: An American Saga‘s Premiere at Cannes

Kevin Costner is returning as director for his passion project Horizon: An American Saga, an ambitious magnum opus he has been developing for over 35 years. Costner has planned a four-film arc chronicling the expansion of the American West starting from the period of the American Civil War. Before its theatrical release, the film is set to premiere at the upcoming Cannes Film Festival on May 19.

Costner expressed his excitement about premiering his film at such a prestige film festival such as Cannes. He stated that the French have always supported good films and believed in the power of filmmaking The actor further claimed that he is deeply confident with what he has made with the film. Costner said (via The Hollywood Reporter),

“I’ve been waiting for the right time to return and I’m proud to say that this time has come. Horizon: An American Saga is a story that began 35 years ago, and I can’t think of a better place than Cannes to reveal to the world the result of such a wonderful adventure. The French have always supported films and believed deeply in filmmaking. Just as I believe deeply in my film.”

In addition to directing, Costner plays the lead in the film. The epic saga also includes actors such as Sienna Miller, Sam Worthington, Giovanni Ribisi, Jena Malone, Abbey Lee, Michael Rooker, Danny Huston, Luke Wilson, Isabelle Fuhrman, Jeff Fahey, Will Patton, Tatanka Means, and many others.
