Retirement? If you ask Clint Eastwood who is still active in his 90s, he would certainly say, no thanks but all good things come to an end. Eastwood has an astonishing career spanning over six decades as a legendary actor/director. But in his career, he was also in the mix of some rumors.

Many believed Eastwood had a strong connection with the late actor Marilyn Monroe. Also, it was in the general notion that he was inspired by Monroe as he stepped into his acting journey. But Eastwood has a different take on that.

Clint Eastwood Clarified His Marilyn Monroe Connection

Clint Eastwood has long been discussed with the idea that he was inspired by Marilyn Monroe to forge his career and created his acting trademark— a minimally expressive style. Speaking with Parade, however, the actor set his record straight clarifying the actual story behind it.

“Marilyn Monroe?! No, I was never influenced by her. I was up for a part in [Monroe’s 1956 romantic comedy] Bus Stop as a young guy. The director, Josh Logan, was going to choose between me and John Smith. I was kind of excited because she was so attractive, and I thought, This could be OK. And, of course, it didn’t become OK because Josh cast some other guy in New York. Like you’re ready to hit the ball out of the park and then, nothing,” Eastwood told the outlet.

Certainly, the actor has crossed several bumpy roads in his movie career and faced many such rumors but it doesn’t bother him that much. He is always focused on his career. Even today, he is far from considering retirement.

Clint Eastwood Revealed His Motivation and Retirement Plans

It would be hard for anyone to stand still in their 90s, Eastwood certainly has a stronger genetic history. Just “getting out of bed each morning” motivates the actor now. “I remember when my grandfather turned 90, and he was a fairly vigorous man, and I thought, Well, you could have a good life if you’re in decent shape. And my mother lived to be 97,” he told Parade. The 93-year-old earlier stated that he is far from the idea of retirement.

“I don’t think so. I’m constantly figuring out what I’m going to do next. I still love taking somebody’s idea, whether it’s a book or a play, and developing it. Maybe other people want to do a few movies and quit, and that’s great. Maybe they’ve got something else they could do and keep busy. I don’t. I love movies and enjoy making them,” Eastwood said when he was 91.

However, most recent reports state that the legendary actor/director is set to officially retire. The four-time Oscar winner is reportedly set to direct the final film of his career at Warner Brothers. The project is titled Juror #2 which will be his 40th-directed feature film.
