“I Didn’T Want To Dirty Up The Road”: Harrison Ford Didn’T Reach Out To Kevin Costner For Yellowstone Spin-Off And It Had Nothing To Do With Taylor Sheridan Feud

Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone universe has continued to expand with several spin-offs, including 1923, starring Harrison Ford in the lead role. Ford has been a longtime acquaintance of Yellowstone star Kevin Costner. However, Ford did not reach out to him before onboarding the hit Western drama television franchise.

In an interview, Ford revealed why he chose not to speak with Costner about his involvement in a Yellowstone spin-off. Moreover, Ford’s reasoning had nothing to do with the alleged feud between Costner and Sheridan that has been discussed among fans in the recent past. Here is why Harrison Ford did not seek Kevin Costner’s advice for his Yellowstone spin-off.

Harrison Ford Reveals the Real Reason He Didn’t Reach Out to Kevin Costner for Yellowstone Spin-Off

While promoting the first season of 1923, a prequel to Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone, starring Kevin Costner, Harrison Ford was asked about his relationship with the latter. During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Ford was questioned whether he had reached out to Costner given they have a history, and Ford plays an ancestor of Costner’s character.

“Nope. I wanted my own singular relationship with Taylor to rule my behavior and my thoughts. I didn’t want to dirty up the road with somebody else’s. I have no idea how they get along. I would assume they get along great because Kevin does a great job.”

Ford made the above statement explaining why he did not want Costner or any other actor from the franchise to inform his thoughts about creator Taylor Sheridan and his style of work. Moreover, Ford’s words also confirm that the alleged feud between Sheridan and Costner was not a part of the reason he did not reach out to the latter as the Star Wars actor felt the two got along well.

Kevin Costner Seemingly Ends Rumors of Alleged Feud With Yellowstone Creator Taylor Sheridan

Speculations of a feud between Kevin Costner and Taylor Sheridan emerged (see Dexerto) after the former apparently exited Yellowstone ahead of the second half of its fifth season. However, in recent times, Costner has expressed an interest in returning for the final stretch of episodes, which will mark the end of the series.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Costner seemingly squashed the rumors of a rift with Sheridan by expressing a desire to collaborate with him once again in the future, either on a Yellowstone-related property or on an entirely new project.

“He’s very prolific about the things he does, and if he sees me in something that he wants to do, I’ll look at it just the way I did Yellowstone and maybe we will end up doing something together.”

Costner made the above statement, implying that he had a good working relationship with Sheridan despite the delays faced by Yellowstone season 5. However, Costner also stated that he hadn’t had a conversation with Sheridan regarding the final episodes of Yellowstone.

As for Sheridan, the producer stated in June 2023, that he held Costner and his work on Yellowstone in high regard, but expressed disappointment in not getting to wrap up his character’s story properly. Therefore, it remains to be seen if Costner does return for the final episodes, firmly ending rumors of a feud with Sheridan.

Yellowstone is streaming on Peacock, while 1923 is available on Paramount+.
