A lot of actors and directors announce their retirement by the time they reach their 90s. However, Clint Eastwood has different ideologies when it comes to retiring as he once revealed in an interview with People. When talking about what has changed in the industry when he first made his directorial debut back in 1971 in Play Misty for Me, he said,
โI never think about it. If Iโm not the same guy, I donโt want to know anything about it. I might not like the new guy. I might think, โWhat am I doing with this idiot?’โ
He further talked about giving certain roles to certain actors because he does not want to live with any regrets in the future. He said,
โI have nothing against other directors, but I might have a whole different take on things and I donโt want to be thinking, โWhy did I give it to him?โ โ
