‘Below Deck Mediterranean’S Bri Muller Shades Chef Jono’S Baking Skills On ‘Wwhl’, Says His Lava Cake “Wasn’T So Lava”

Below Deck Mediterranean stars Bri Muller and Gael Cameron were the guests on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen last night, and the two shared their thoughts on the current season of their show, including a critique of Chef Jono’s latest culinary misstep, his poorly-baked chocolate lava cake.

During WWHL, a fan called in with a question for Bri, asking for her opinion on the lesser of two evils. Which dessert, prepared by Chef Johnathan Shillingford, was worse: the “deconstructed” sponge cake he made for guests, or the lava cake that he made and served in this week’s episode, which was overcooked to the point that it resembled a hamburger patty.

“That’s a race to the bottom right there,” Cohen said, before handing the floor over to Muller.

“I think it’s gonna have to be the overcooked lava cake,” Miller told the fan.

She added, “At least with the sponge cake, it was what it was. With the lava cake, it wasn’t so lava.”

The lava cake situation was the latest of Chef Jono’s blunders, which have also included leaving cooked eggs out for over an hour and allowing them to be served cold, which Captain Sandy Yawn called a “huge red flag.”

After the hard, overcooked lava cakes were served — to the guests and to Chef Sandy herself — she explained that she’s going to be on the lookout for a new chef just in case things with Jono don’t improve, saying, “The entire meal was sub-par. I’m gonna get through this charter, and when the guests get off I’m going to have a very real conversation with Johnathan. But I am definitely looking for a backup.”
