Below Deck Mediterranean season 9’s returning Chief Stew Aesha Scott is known for being fair, but during a recent appearance on Watch What Happens Live, she defended a crew member against some critical viewers. Aesha, who began her Below Deck career with Captain Sandy Yawn on Below Deck Mediterranean, has returned to the series after a few years away to hone her craft. While Aesha was a major player during Below Deck Down Under’s first two seasons, she had the opportunity to come back to her roots when Below Deck Med season 9 began and happily seized the day.
“I would probably be looking elsewhere as well.”
During a recent appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Aesha and one of her Stews, Elena Dubaich, discussed Below Deck Med season 9 when the topic of boatmances came up. Andy was quick to ask about the potential boatmance between Deckhands Gael Cameron, who started the charter season with a boyfriend, and Nathan Gallagher.
When asked if she thought Gael and Nathan crossed the line, Aesha explained, “In Gael’s defense, if you heard the way that her [boyfriend] was speaking to her and messaging her, I would probably be looking elsewhere as well.” Aesha explained that while Gael was in a relationship, which has been difficult to comprehend after she was flirty with Nathan, her partner wasn’t respectful about the way he spoke to her. Aesha agreed with Gael searching for companionship in someone else.
Should Gael & Nathan Pursue A Boatmance During Below Deck Med Charter?
Gael & Nathan Should Take Things Slow On Below Deck
While Aesha and Elena both agreed that Gael’s existing relationship coming into Below Deck Mediterranean season 9 wasn’t the right fit, the question remains about whether the Deckhand should be pursuing something aboard the superyacht. Though Gael and Nathan have been able to work professionally with one another after flirting throughout the first charter, their bubble of secrecy was harshly popped when they tried to get some privacy after the first crew night out. The pair tried to sneak up to a crew deck, but cameras caught them heading up, and Gael ultimately called off their late night rendezvous.
Though Gael and Nathan’s intentions weren’t made clear, and both shared that they only wanted to meet up to continue to talk after their night out, it seemed obvious that things wouldn’t be simply friendly between the Deckhands. Even though Gael was already in a relationship, it appeared that they were getting together to get physical. While it’s not anyone’s business, the fact that they were so quickly and easily ready to cross the line from professional to personal was shocking. They should have pumped the brakesand gotten to know each other first.
After Below Deck Mediterranean’s first few episodes, it’s obvious that the season is going to be a high-stakes look at the Mustique’s crew, who aren’t afraid to take risks and swing big on the superyacht. Even though Gael and Nathan called off their late night meeting, the pair’s attraction is strong, and it seems like there’s potential for a budding boatmance if they take things slow and get to know each other better. While they may throw caution to the wind later on, hopefully, the Below Deck Mediterranean pair is able to figure things out and get together soon.
