Carlo Pedersoli (31 October 1929 – 27 June 2016), known professionally as Bud Spencer, was an Italian, professional swimmer and water polo player. He was known for action-comedy and Spaghetti Western roles with his long-time film partner and friend Terence Hill. The duo “garnered world acclaim and attracted millions to theater seats”.Spencer and Hill appeared in 18 films together.
In his youth, Bud Spencer was a successful athlete and swimmer for the Gruppo Sportivo Fiamme Oro.He obtained a law degree and several registered patents. Spencer also became a certified commercial airline and helicopter pilot, and supported and funds many children’s charities, including the Spencer Scholarship Fund.
Pedersoli’s first film role was in Quel fantasma di mio marito, an Italian comedy short released in 1950. In 1951 he played a member of the Praetorian Guard in Quo Vadis, a film epic filmed in Italy, produced by MGM and directed by Mervyn. Cry . Pedersoli became a documentary producer for the national television company RAI.
Another Bud Spencer classic revived – Piedone returns as a series
Piedone’s four films were made between 1973 and 1980, all starring Bud Spencer. It has now been revealed that production will soon return as a series. Sky Italia has announced that more than four decades after the last film, they will be making a series called Piedone. The main character of the 4-part series will be Salvatore Esposito, and directed by Alessio Maria Federici.
The protagonist of the production is detective Vincenzo Palmieri who, like his former mentor, Piedone, ie Inspector Rizzo, dislikes the use of weapons. With his unique methods, he wants to be accepted as Piedone’s successor. Palmieri returned to Napoli after several years to settle the past.
