Vanderpump Rules star Ariana Madix’s brother, Jeremy Madix, scored a major win after prosecutors decided to drop the felony drug trafficking charge filed against him, In Touch can report.
According to court documents obtained by In Touch, prosecutors in Orange County, Florida, informed the court that they decided the case brought against Jeremy “is not suitable for prosecution.”
“This action is taken to clear the records and to release subject’s bond if any has been posted responsive to the above charge(s). If in custody, defendant should be released,” the prosecutors said.
Jeremey’s $80,000 bond was discharged and the case now shows as closed on the court docket.
As In Touch previously reported, back in April, Jeremy, 32, and his friend Jonah Ahad got stopped by a U.S. Customs and Border Protection agent while traveling from the Orlando International Airport in Florida to Germany.
The agent searched Jeremy and Jonah’s luggage and found bags of marijuana. Jeremy allegedly had 64 bags of marijuana that weighed over 76 pounds and his friend had 31 bags that weighed over 37 pounds.
Jeremy and Jonah were not arrested at the airport. Jeremy was arrested at his California home in July and transported to Florida for his first hearing.
Jeremy was charged with one felony count of trafficking in cannabis of more than 25 pounds of 300 plants. He was facing a minimum sentence of three years in prison and a fine of $25,000.
Jeremy was released on bond after his family and friends wrote letters to the judge about his character.
Ariana, 39, and Jeremy’s mother, Tanya Madix, wrote an emotional letter in support of her son. “He is a wonderful loving son. When he visits he always takes care of anything I want done at my house. He is a kind person. He is always sure to check in on me.”
Tanya added, “Over the past 10 years while living in California he has thrived there. He has a good job and is liked by his employer. He shares a home with his lovely fiancée Rachael and their 2 dogs. Jeremy is proud of his home and puts in much effort in beautifying the property.”
Jeremy’s lawyer told the judge, “Mr. Madix is gainfully employed at a vodka distillery and tasting room. He is hard-working, and regularly works 10-12 hour days.” He added, “Mr. Madix’s job is waiting for him in California, assuming he is able to return to it within a reasonable time period. Mr. Madix is enrolled in college classes at Mira Costa College in Oceanside, California. He is enrolled for classes that start the week of August 19, 2024.” The case is now closed.
For her part, Ariana and her Vanderpump Rules costars have been taking a break from filming after season 11. Sources told In Touch that a new season has yet to be confirmed and no shooting schedule has been locked down.
As In Touch previously reported, Ariana is in the middle of her own legal battle with her former costar Raquel Leviss over alleged invasion of privacy. Ariana denied all allegations of wrongdoing. The case is ongoing.
