93-year-old Clint Eastwood made a rare appearance last month.
He was seen at Jane Goodall’s speaking event held at the Sunset Cultural Centre in his hometown of Carmel-by-the-Sea, California on March 24. The event, Reasons For Hope, was presented by the Wildlife Conservation Network in honour of Jane’s 90th birthday which she celebrated earlier this month.
Clint was photographed at the event sitting in the front row while Jane spoke and later chatted to the famed conversationalist backstage. This was a stark contrast to the portrait of the actor painted last year where he was feared to have declining health.
Clint faced health concerns over ‘disappearance’
Last May, the Hollywood star had reportedly not been seen out in public for over 450 days. The last time the Dirty Harry star was seen was February 6, 2022 when he attended the AT&T Pro-Am golf tournament at the Pebble Beach Golf Club in California.
The golf enthusiast didn’t attend the 2023 tournament even though his son Scott was competing. The golf course is also a favourite of Clint’s and is located less than three miles from his home, adding to the worries of those close to him.
Sources close to Clint were worried about his health amid the disappearance. “Clint has always enjoyed great health and been vital and active despite his advancing age, but the fact that he hasn’t been around as much lately has a lot of people in Hollywood worried about him,” a source told Radar Online.
The insider continued: “It’s hard to imagine him in anything other than fine form but Father Time catches up to all of us.”
Clint is now back working as a director and producer
Luckily, he has re-emerged at Jane’s event this weekend and was pictured smiling and in good spirits. Prior to his latest appearance, Clint was working on a film titled Juror No. 2 – a courtroom drama starring Nicholas Hoult and Toni Collette.
In November 2023, the filmmaker was seen on the Georgia set on the upcoming courtroom thriller. He was smiling behind the camera amongst his crew members.
Clint is directing and producing the upcoming movie, which halted production last year during the SAG-AFTRA strike in Hollywood. But it’s assumed it picked back up after the strike ended in November.
Last December, Toby Keith shared Clint’s motto to keeping in good health and spirits. The country singer appeared on Audacy’s Superstar Power Hour where he told the host his song Don’t Let The Old Man In was inspired by the actor.
“I’m Clint Eastwood’s partner at his golf tournament. He’s 93 this year, by the way,” Toby said, “Several years ago at the first event I played with him… I [asked], ‘What keeps you going at your age?’ He said, ‘I try to get up every day and be productive — not let that old man in.'”
His personal doctor, Dr. Harry Demopoulos talked about Eastwood’s health at the time stating, “He is in superb condition, He never eats fat, he takes his antioxidants faithfully, works out like a demon, and gets plenty of sleep, which is an area that is often neglected in a fitness program. When we pit him against a stress test machine, Clint wins. He has become almost superhuman. His strength is amazing.”
