Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone universe is constantly expanding and growing into numerous prequels and spin-offs. With more sequels and spin-offs on the way, the Harrison Ford starrer prequel, 1923 has by far been the most extraordinary and critically well-received.
With its second season already announced and production going on, Brandon Sklenar got candid about how it was working on the show along with Sheridan and two of the most respected Hollywood legends, Ford and Helen Mirren. While conversing with Fox News on the Golden Globe red carpet, Sklenar also revealed the unique way Ford prepped for the distinguished western series.
How Harrison Ford Prepped For His Yellowstone Prequel Series
Harrison Ford stars as Jacob Dutton, an ancestor of Kevin Costner‘s Yellowstone character, John Dutton, while Helen Mirren stars as his wife Cara Dutton in the series 1923. A brainchild of Taylor Sheridan, the brilliant filmmaker-actor had a unique way of prepping up his cast for the neo-western series set in times of the Great Depression, droughts, and numerous other hardships.
Sheridan reportedly set up a two-week cowboy camp for his excellent cast to get them familiar with the time period and living on the ranch. From horse-riding to cattle wrangling, it was a new world for the actors to explore, and helped them immerse into the unfamiliar land.
While the young actors certainly enjoyed it (via Fox News), Brandon Sklenar, who plays Spencer Dutton, revealed to Fox News in a separate interview about the bada** way Harrison Ford prepared for the show while in camp.
“[He] did his own thing. He brought his own saddle. He was like flying around in his helicopter… The guy’s just a bada**.”

Well-known for doing unusual things (check the Telegraph), it is hardly surprising to hear Sklenar’s claims about the Hollywood legend’s commitment to his role. 81, yet still active, Ford is excited for the upcoming season of the series which apparently is too much work.
Harrison Ford Cannot Wait To Be Back In Another Season Of 1923
The second season of 1923 is about to start as Brandon Sklenar revealed to Fox News while on the Golden Globe red carpet. As excited as he is to finally work alongside Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren in the second season, his legendary co-star is equally related to star in the upcoming series. Although the Indiana Jones star hasn’t made any comments recently, but last year while talking to The Hollywood Reporter in an exclusive interview, he had stated,
“I really didn’t realize how much work 1923 was going to be, and I absolutely feel it’s worth it. I’m excited to do another season.”
Adding on, Ford revealed he had not even an inkling of how the second season will be. While the script is still being developed, fans and the cast anticipate some major changes and a darker tone for the highly anticipated Yellowstone prequel (via Digital Spy). Yellowstone, 1923, and its other related series can be streamed on Paramount+, while the release date of 1923 Season 2 is yet to be announced.
